2014 Challenges

2014 Challenges, Goals and Races

This page will be dedicated to my 2014 challenges, I often participate in the 30 day challenges that float around the web, my running and fitness goals and the races I complete.

Winter Miles
This first challenge I am participating in this year is the Winter Miles Challenge hosted by Run With Jess.  I am so excited about this one because there is also a virtual 8k to participate in, and you can get bling for it!  It's also great because you can pick any level you are comfy with, I'm sticking to a 10 miles per week goal for now.   Follow along and see if I can meet my goals for the next 8 weeks.

Week 1 (Jan 6th-12th) - 9 miles (Boo! I'm partially benched though)
Week 2 ( Jan 13th-19th) - 10.2
Week 3 (Jan 20th- 26th) - 13
Week 4 (Jan 27th - Feb 2nd)
Week 5 (Feb 3rd- 9th)
Week 6 (Feb 10th- 16th)
Week 7 (Feb 17th- 23rd)
Week 8 (Feb 24th- Mar 2nd)

1000 Miles
Simultaneously I am participating in another mileage challenge hosted by Victoria Runs, this one is a 1000 mile challenge!  I have 12 months to get in 1000 miles!  Good thing I can convert some of my yoga hours to mileage, I need roughly 84 miles a month to reach my goal!  I will update my total each week, this should be interesting.

January Fitness Challenge
This is my first 30 day, or four week, challenge of the year!  Each day I will do three strength building exercises, skull crushers, planks and push-ups, building the amount of time I can hold planks and the number of push-ups I can do.  I was inspired buy a printable I found over at Run With Jess. I will let you know how it goes each week, if it's easier or if I'm dying.

Week 1 - I cruised through the first week, ending it with 30 pushups, 15 second side planks, 53 second elbow plank and a 60 second extended plank.
Week 2 - I admittedly fell off the challenge this week.  After my bummer new about my leg I kind of let it all go.  Getting back on track with week 3 though.
Week 3 - Boo!  I'm going to have to start over.
Week 4 -
